Inside ACE Controls’ Testing Lab: How We Test Our Products to Their Limits

One of the most important promises ACE Controls makes to our customers is durability. But delivering on that promise requires more than just great design: it demands rigorous testing to ensure our products can withstand the most cycles and toughest conditions. Inside our Testing Lab, we simulate real-world scenarios, push products beyond their limits, and analyze every detail to guarantee reliability. From extreme temperatures to heavy loads and million-cycle durability tests, here’s how we make absolutely certain that every product meets ACE’s high standards.

  To start out, every product is tested for its maximum cycle use. Simulations provide useful insights, but the real proof comes from putting each product through a million cycles of repetitive use. With impact testers that can drop up to 1250 pounds of force, we can rigorously test every size of product in ACE Controls’ inventory. Under the watchful eyes of our engineers, each tested product is inspected for signs of failure, from leaking to performance degradation. This process ensures that every product meets ACE’s high standards to perform in the real world. But even surviving a million cycles isn’t good enough to merit a passing grade from the Testing Lab.

After a product type passes the basic durability tests, the Testing Lab will proceed to the extreme conditions. To guarantee reliability in any situation, we test each product at twice its energy range and effective weight, as well as 150% of its energy capacity. Products that are expected to operate in extreme temperatures are heated up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit or frozen to -40 degree Fahrenheit in order to mimic the harshest environments they might face in the field. After a product has successfully withstood the extreme temperatures, it is sent to the durability tests to ensure that it will continue to function for the remainder of its lifespan.

Our engineers at the Testing Lab will collaborate with application specialists to recreate the exact conditions the product will face in the field. In specialized cases, ACE even partners with other Stabilus labs or external partners to conduct advanced testing beyond the ACE Controls Testing Lab’s capabilities.
